Comparação de Prática Mental e Facilitação Neuromuscular Proprioceptiva em Irmãs com Atrofia Cerebelar

Objetivo. Comparar o efeito de um treinamento entre Prática Mental (PM) e Prática Física (PF) na força muscular de flexores de dedos em duas irmãs com atrofia cerebelar precoce de origem genética. Método. As pacientes realizaram um programa de exercícios de Facilitação Neuromuscular Proprioceptiva (FNP) de membros superiores – uma participante realizou mentalmente (condição PM) e a outra realizou fisicamente (condição PF). O treinamento foi constituído de 10 sessões, 2 vezes por semana, por 5 semanas. A força muscular de flexores de dedos foi mensurada por meio de um dinamômetro antes do início de todas as sessões, e após 17 dias do término do treino. Resultados. As pacientes que realizaram PM e PF apresentaram um ganho de 42%, e 10%, respectivamente, na mão dominante. Na reavaliação de seguimento após 17 dias, ambas mantiveram os resultados benéficos, e a paciente da condição PM apresentou ganho de 12% na força muscular. Conclusão. A PM aplicada isoladamente promoveu maior ganho de força muscular de flexores de dedos em comparação com a PF de exercícios de FNP realizados por duas irmãs com atrofia cerebelar, o que sugere que os indivíduos com desordens cerebelares também podem ser beneficiados pela PM como forma terapêutica adjuvante à PF.
