Suplementação de fontes de oleuropeína em doenças neurodegenerativas: revisão sistemática

Resumo

Introdução. Os frutos e folhas extraídos das Oliveiras, como o azeite de oliva extra virgem (AOEV) e seu polifenol mais abundante, a Oleuropeína (OLE), apresentam diversos benefícios terapêuticos, incluindo atividade neuroprotetora. A população idosa enfrenta a ameaça de problemas de saúde relacionados à neurodegeneração. Biomarcadores de alterações cerebrais de Alzheimer, além de sintomas como declínio cognitivo de algumas funções, perda de memória ou velocidade de processamento são sintomas que podem indicar o desenvolvimento de doenças neurodegenerativas exigindo que rotas de tratamento eficazes sejam procuradas. Objetivo. O objetivo desta revisão foi avaliar os efeitos da suplementação de azeite de oliva e outras fontes de oleuropeína em indivíduos com doenças neurodegenerativas. Método. Por meio dos bancos de dados  PubMed, Scopus e Web of Science, estudos clínicos que examinam a relação entre AOEV, Oleuropeína e doenças neurodegenerativas até janeiro de 2023 foram sistematicamente pesquisados. A análise de evidências foi realizada usando ferramentas robustas para avaliar o risco de viés (RoB 2.0) e qualidade metodológica (GRADE) dos estudos incluídos. Resultados. Um total de quatro estudos foram incluídos. As condições neurológicas incluem Doença de Alzheimer e Comprometimento Cognitivo Leve. Conclusão. No geral, benefícios terapêuticos neuroprotetores foram observados através da suplementação de AOEV e OLE. Os estudos atualmente publicados, no entanto, são limitados, exigindo continuidade e aperfeiçoamento da metodologia de intervenção empregada.
