Objective. To identify risk factors for language disorders in preschool children, investigating a possible association with phonology. Method. Participated 76 children of both genders, aged 3 to 5 years, whose parents filled the CICRICAL Checklist about risk factors and milestones of linguistic development. The children's language test in the phonology area (ABFW) was also applied. Results. The prevalence of a history of little verbal interaction with the child (23.7%), prematurity (17.1%), low maternal education (15.8%) and family history (14.5%) was observed. There was a concentration in the Free Zone with 37 children (48.7%) and in the Alert Zone with 32 children (42.1%). The presence of at least one risk factor was associated with changes in the phonological subsystem (p=0.03). Conclusion. So, there was a higher occurrence of positive history for little verbal interaction with the child and prematurity. The CICRICAL checklist was associated with the phonological assessment.
