Objective. To identify the cognitive and motor effects of dance in the treatment of patients with Parkinson's disease. Method. In order to carry out this study, an integrative literature review was conducted, using articles indexed by the following databases: Pubmed/Medline, Cochrane, PEDro and Scielo as a source. The studies found will be screened through GRADE, a guide of recommendations to verify the level of quality of evidence. Results. After data collection and extraction, 197 articles were screened and submitted to peer review by independent authors, resulting in the exclusion and selection of only 11 viable studies. The resulting articles underwent an assessment of the quality of evidence through the GRADE system, which only qualified 7 articles for this study. Qualified articles evaluated a total of 283 patients in several domains affected by PD, including functional mobility, balance, ADL performance, gait and cognition. The findings suggest the qualification of dance as a useful tool for the treatment of these patients, in addition, an improvement in motor performance was identified, especially in functional mobility, balance, gait speed and ADL performance, and improved cognitive performance with a decrease in depressive symptoms, an increase in socialization, decreased negative mood and reduced anxiety. Conclusion. Dance proved to be an effective tool to promote improvement in the motor and cognitive domains of patients with Parkinson's.
