Introduction. One of the most recent approaches to the treatment of stroke is a Virtual Rehabilitation. Objective. To analyze the effectiveness of using a video game resource as a technology for rehabilitation of patients diagnosed with stroke. Method. Five elderly patients from the Rehabilitation Center of the Santo André City-SP participated in this research. The Berg Scale and the Functional Independence Measure Scale (FIM) were applied, the first assessment being performed when the group was started and reassessed after 8 months of treatment. Results. An improvement was noted in the BERG Balance Scale score (p<0.01) and in the Functional Independence Measure (p<0.05), that means improvement in transference, change in posture, and independence. Conclusion. The results pointed out were positive, showing by the BERG and MIF assessments that there was a decrease in the risk of falls, improvement in mobility, changes in posture and greater independence in activities of daily living, considerably improving the quality of life of the patients.
