Edward Said and Paul Ricoeur: The world in the text versus the world of the text

Abstract


A brief analysis of the textual theory of Edward Said and Paul Ricoeur demonstrate clearly that their position regards this topic are diametrically opposite. In this essay we try to put in evidence that the origin of this divergent positions is due to their differences with respect to the concept world. In other words, it is in function of a certain apprehension of the concept world that the text, according to them, would acquire a certain meaning.
