Abstract

The article aims to analyze value of information from, focusing on rent and relative plus-value. In order to be productive and expansive the capital accumulation, the information should guide by openness and sharing among working class. Capital capture information and knowledge produced by working class in the field of software development. We distinguish digital information from knowledge. Methodology is based on the on Marx`s political economy and information collected on GitHub´s site. We conclude that in the software development appropriation of capital over information is better defined as rent (intellectual property) and relative plus-value. That strategy implies commodization and privatization of digital information and knowledge accumulated and available.
