Abstract

Abstract: This article presents the results of exploratory research on Local Content Policy, a policy that prioritizes the acquisition, by the Federal Government and federal companies and autarchies, of products and services produced by companies settled in Brazil. The general objective of the research is to contribute to the analysis of public policies for economic development and job promotion. The specific objective is to collect data to evaluate the impact of a specific policy on activating economic sectors and increasing the number of employed workers. The call for the period that covers PT's (Partido dos Trabalhadores/Worker's Party) governments is due to the fact that in these governments there was a deepening of such policy, impacting especially the sectors linked to the supply of machinery, equipment and services for oil exploration. The data collected indicates that implementation of the Local Content policy was an outcome of claims made by sectors of Brazilian business, aiming to ensure space in the domestic market, and brought positive effects on job creation and activation of economic sectors..
