Abstract

This article aims to investigate the role of the school manager in a participatory perspective, identifying the public policies that support him to exercise democratic management. Throughout the study, we pointed out the challenges that are currently faced together with a critical reflection on democratic management, through a bibliographic search. It seeks to highlight the importance of the Collegiate Instances in effecting the democratization process of the public school. The central question: “Is the democratic management advocated in the Federal Constitution of 1988 experienced in public schools? Through bibliographic review and observations in the educational field, we analyzed the obstacles and possibilities for the effectiveness of a collegiate administration. The democratic management of the public school is still a challenge for many managers, considering that participation requires the construction of paradigms that involve those interested in a quality, inclusive, egalitarian education for all. In this sense, we reflect on the ways that enable managers to implement collegiate bodies that guarantee the effective experience of democratic and participative management.
