The Graduate Program in Art History at UNIFESP, in operation since 2014, has been gaining visibility, representativeness, significant academic and scientific output, and recognition in the field of art historical studies. It has become a comprehensive, multidisciplinary, and innovative program. As part of this significant growth process, Imagem: Revista de História da Arte was created by its graduate students and approved by the Collegiate of the Graduate Program in Art History in 2019. The first issue was published in 2022. The founding and establishment of an international academic journal aims to provide visibility, breadth, and dialogue for academic production arising from research in Graduate Programs in Art History at universities in Brazil and abroad.

For the composition of the Editorial Board and National and International Scientific Committees, names of recognized relevance were brought together, providing Imagem with academic weight, scientific rigor, and fruitful national and international dialogue. Furthermore, dialogue and exchange of themes, events, research, and materials related to Art History are central to the journal's activities and objectives, always privileging transdisciplinarity and internationalization. Innovation, originality, relevance, visibility, breadth, critical vision, and scientific rigor are among the guiding qualities of Imagem. The journal aims to become a reference not only at the national level, but also in the horizontalized international dissemination of research in Art History and related fields, as a creator and driver of content across various media, formats, and platforms of scientific access, reaching beyond the boundaries of academia and the university to allow for social insertion.
