Abstract

The article presents a brief retrospective on the resurgence of the art of stained-glass production and restoration in the 19th century, as well as on the socio-historical and cultural context in which these works developed. It briefly discusses the origin of De Diversis Artibus, a medieval text on artistic techniques, and how the recovery and translations of this work throughout the 18th and 19th centuries influenced the revival of this important medieval art in the 19th century.
