Insuflação Traqueal de Gás como Terapia Alternativa a Hipercapnia em Pacientes com SARA

Introdução. A Síndrome da Angústia Respiratória Aguda (SARA) é caracterizada como uma insuficiência respiratória aguda hipoxêmica gerada por uma intensa resposta inflamatória pulmonar. A Insuflação Traqueal de Gás (TGI) é uma das terapias alternativas para o tratamento da hipercapnia na SARA. Método. Para realizar esta atualização da literatura, foram utilizados livros da área de pneumologia e artigos das bases de dados Bireme, Scielo e Pubmed, no período de 1992-2006, com as seguintes palavras-chave: Síndrome da Angústia Respiratória Aguda, insuflação traqueal de gás, hipercapnia permissiva e seus correspondentes em inglês. Conclusão. Os estudos realizados sobre a técnica apontam resultados positivos quanto à diminuição ou estabilização da PaCO2 , no entanto a falta de um protocolo seguro e preocupações quanto os efeitos deletérios ainda circundam a TGI. A TGI é vista como uma técnica coadjuvante, porém eficaz no tratamento da hipercapnia em pacientes sob ventilação protetora na SARA. Contudo, pesquisas ainda podem explorar essa técnica, auxiliando seu desenvolvimento e buscando uma melhor compreensão dos seus benefícios.
