Resumo

O tratamento da fase aguda do acidente vascular cerebral isquêmico (AVCi) inclui a preservação da zona de penumbra isquêmica, o tratamento das complicações clínicas decorrentes do AVCi e a tentativa de determinação do mecanismo fisiopatológico responsável pelo evento. A abordagem do paciente na fase aguda do AVCi será o assunto desse artigo de revisão incluindo a terapia trombolítica e o tratamento de pacientes não candidatos à trombólise.
