Equilíbrio estático de escolares ouvintes e com perda auditiva sensorioneural

Objetivo. Comparar o desempenho do equilíbrio estático entre escolares ouvintes e com perda auditiva sensórioneural do mesmo gênero e faixa etária. Método. Estudo de corte transversal que avaliou 96 escolares, sendo 48 ouvintes e 48 com perda auditiva sensórioneural de ambos os gêneros e na faixa etária entre 7-18 anos. A avaliação do equilíbrio estático foi realizada utilizando-se o teste de apoio unipodal, que avalia o equilíbrio estático em quatro condições sensoriais distintas: apoio unipodal sobre o membro inferior direito com os olhos abertos e fechados e apoio unipodal sobre o membro inferior esquerdo com os olhos abertos e fechados. Resultados. Os escolares com perda auditiva apresentaram uma maior ocorrência de alterações no desempenho do equilíbrio estático quando comparado aos ouvintes em todas as condições analisadas (p< 0,001). Conclusão. Os escolares com perda auditiva apresentaram maior ocorrência de alterações no desempenho do equilíbrio estático que os ouvintes, possivelmente, em decorrência de alterações no sistema vestibular, em virtude da lesão na orelha interna.
