Resumo

Introdução. Nos últimos 20 anos o mundo se deparou com epidemias da família coronavírus, doença caracterizada pelo prejuízo no sistema respiratório. Porém, diante da atual pandemia por COVID-19 além dos impactos no sistema respiratório, há evidência do comprometimento do sistema nervoso após a infecção, o que chama a atenção de pesquisadores a doença. Objetivo. Identificar caracterizando as principais manifestações neurológicas associadas ao COVID-19, a fim de contribuir para o entendimento, melhor manejo e cuidado de sujeitos com prejuízos neuromotores. Método. Trata-se de uma revisão narrativa da literatura, utilizando as bases de dados: Pubmed/Medline, Scielo e Google Acadêmico, publicados entre 2019 a 2022. Resultados. Foram selecionados 42 artigos para a revisão. A prevalência das manifestações neurológicas variou entre os estudos, estes descrevem sintomas e complicações como: cefaleia, AVC, vertigem, alterações da consciência, encefalopatia, encefalomielite, síndrome de Guillain Barré, entre outros. Conclusão. O espectro de manifestações e principais doenças neurológicas associadas à COVID-19 é vasto. Contudo, as implicações neurológicas da infeção a longo prazo não são conhecidas. A partir desta revisão pretende-se contribuir para a melhor compreensão sobre o envolvimento do sistema nervoso pelo COVID-19, auxiliando dessa forma o manejo de pacientes.
