Abstract

The aim is to carry out a critical analysis of the book Poder Camuflado by journalist Fábio Victor (2022). The book is part of the field of investigative journalism and is the result of five years of rigorous research and dozens of interviews with primary sources, especially Brazilian Army officers. The author problematizes the role of military power, especially at the head of formal institutions, and how this power is legitimized socially and symbolically through different narratives. In short, O Poder Camuflado is an original contribution, based on vast empirical documentation and fulfilling the objective of uncovering the camouflaged forms of power that undermine the balance of institutions and democracy in the country.
