Clandestines: abortion and reproductive rights from a feminist perspective on Human Rights

Abstract

This article produces an analysis of the mobilization for the legalization of abortion in Brazil, as an instrument to ensure the autonomy of women and positivization of reproductive rights in the field of human rights, from a feminist perspective present in communication materials of some women’s movements, more specifically, the World March of Women. The international treaties that guided the consolidation of these debates, helped in the historical constitution of rights that were threatened in the face of the rise of neoconservative sectors in politics. In resisting a patriarchal right that criminalizes and condemns thousands of women to death every year in Brazil, the feminist praxis of some popular movements assumes a leading role in the political dispute and affirmation of the right to the body as fundamental to guarantee the human dignity of women.
