Abstract

This review of the book “The Philadelphia Negro: a social study” highlights the work as a pioneering social research conducted by W.E.B Du Bois, focused on the condition of African Americans in the city of Philadelphia. Through a meticulous analysis, Du Bois examines whether there was a “black problem” or if the challenges faced by the Black individuals were the result of broader social issues influenced by racial prejudice.

Atualmente, pesquisador de pós-doutorado do Centro Brasileiro de Analise e Planejamento (CEBRAP).
