Recreation of the Feminine in Tragic Theater

The study presented here is part of our research on gender relations in tragedy. The use of gender categories in studies of tragedy allows us to break through interpretive boundaries in which the feminine and masculine were sometimes seen as naturalized, that is, the elaboration of these categories at the time was accepted, and at other times as socially separate, as if there were no contact or interaction between the feminine and masculine in everyday relationships. The aim is to understand the unequal relationship established between the feminine and the masculine in the society portrayed in tragedies.
