The processes of decolonization of the racialized subject through the lens of Achille Mbembe, Beatriz Nascimento and Paul Gilroy

Abstract

This article aims to analyze how the construction of self-determination of the black subject took place, given the historical and political movement that constructed the idea of ​​race, namely, colonialism. In order to reach the self-determination of this subject, we will, in the first moment, analyze the formation of race, within the context of colonization, slavery and capitalism under the lens of Achille Mbembe. In a second moment, with the objective of working on the process of emancipation, of construction of this scattered and divided “self”, we will explore the experience of the racial subject’s reunion with himself and with his fellow men through black expressiveness through Beatriz Nascimento and Paul Gilroy.
