Orientalism and after: impacting feminist theory in India

Abstract
In this essay, the author discusses the introduction and impact of Edward Said's thinking on the emergence of modern feminist studies in India. Orientalism criticism appears as a vector for reorganizing gender studies and literary criticism in that country, which until then had been deeply influenced by colonialist ideologies and nationalist agendas.
