Trabajo, cultura y temporalidad en la industria de los videojuegos digitales

Resumen

El trabajo en la industria de los juegos digitales está permeado por tendencias inscritas en el mundo del trabajo contemporáneo, presentando una combinación particular de cultura, subjetividad y temporalidad. Perteneciente a uno de los sectores más cualificados del trabajo digital, hace explícitas nuevas formas de extraer valor en entornos de trabajo lúdicos, culturalmente motivados y marcados por una temporalidad difusa, mezclando trabajo y tiempo libre. En este contexto, se produce una prolongación e intensificación de la jornada laboral, ejemplificada por el fenómeno del crunch time. Utilizando literatura sobre prácticas laborales en la industria de los juegos digitales, así como extractos de entrevistas semiestructuradas realizadas a trabajadores de esta industria, este artículo reflexiona, a partir de una crítica materialista del trabajo, sobre el concepto de precariedad en el trabajo digital y la vida profesional que se está creando bajo el neoliberalismo, además de presentar algunos de los dilemas que plantea esta forma de acumulación flexible para la organización de estos trabajadores.

    Licenciado en Ciencias Sociales por la Universidad Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), máster en Sociología por la Universidad de São Paulo (USP) y doctor en Ciencias Sociales por la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Minas Gerais (PUC-MG) con pasantía sándwich en la Universidad de Toronto. Es miembro del laboratorio de investigación DigiLabour.
