Abstract

This Dossier brings together contributions to theoretical advancement, empirical results, analyses, and new research agendas on the trajectory of Brazilian university students. From the field of Sociology of Education, with theoretical and empirical contributions from different areas of knowledge, the articles presented here favor the consolidation of a subfield of studies within the Sociology of Higher Education, focused on the area of Student Affairs and its various developments in terms of access, retention, academic success, performance, learning, pedagogical support, mental health, relationship with knowledge, and student life. It is a collection of recent investigations whose results point to the advances and limitations of affirmative action, as well as the progress and challenges regarding student retention in higher education institutions.
