Abstract

The National University of Colombia, founded in 1867, is the country's main university institution, with nine campuses in different regions and around 60 thousand students, with a predominantly male teaching staff. Although it has gender equity policies, the figures reflect predominantly male leadership and participation, with certain areas more masculinized than others.

The university has been a pioneer in gender issues, implementing equity and gender-based violence prevention policies, such as the Protocol for the Prevention and Attention of Gender-Based Violence Cases. However, reports of violence against women and non-binary individuals continue to increase, requiring greater commitment to the prevention and addressing of these issues.

There is a need to work with student groups and representatives to address the naturalization of gender inequality and the silences that persist around violence. The research highlights the experiences of students and their resistance actions against violence, demonstrating the importance of understanding their life trajectories and the meanings they attribute to their experiences.

Expanding the analysis beyond the term "continuum" is necessary to comprehend the various dimensions of suffering and powerlessness experienced by affected individuals.
