Abstract

This article aims to analyze the provision of Basic Social Protection to CRAS users in the municipality of Mariana, Minas Gerais. It is based on the hypothesis that the emergencies resulting from the collapse of the Fundão dam and the COVID-19 pandemic changed the modus operandi of services in the territory. The quali-quanti study provided the quantitative analysis, based on data extracted from the Monthly Service Record (RMA) and considered the number of individualized services, families monitored by PAIF and other occasional benefits granted. The qualitative analysis provided the discussion of the context before the emergencies, after the collapse of the Fundão dam and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study covers the period between 2014 and 2023 and demonstrates the response capacity of the services offered by CRAS.
