Abstract

This article analyzes the essay The Brazilian Empire in the Nineteenth
Century. National Slavery, Planter Class, and Intellectuals in the Process
of the State Building, seeking to highlight its contribution to the
historiographical debate on the construction of the Imperial State of Brazil
during the Second Empire.
