The forgotten ones in the Independency process: a history to be made

Abstract

This article proposes a different approach to the history of the Independency of Brazil, one that goes beyond the greater characters known by historiography, and that enables to bring up individuals many times forgotten in this process. However, such a question does not mean choosing a non-original character, a character who is just a name of which one seeks to reconstitute the trajectory without inserting it in the broader context of the conjuncture that marked the separation of Brazil from Portugal. Using small histories of lives, it’s possible to find those who also elaborated arguments that made possible to rereading the process. They also structured a discourse that sought to decipher the languages of the period and to answer the questions by means of practices and principles that, in a certain way, translated the political cultures of that moment.
