Considerações sobre a integração sináptica: uma introdução

A integração sináptica é a maneira através da qual neurônios processam múltiplas entradas. Ela não representa uma simples “soma” de sinais elétricos, mas apresenta capacidades computacionais complexas e finamente balanceadas. Aqui, abordamos desde alguns conceitos centrais envolvidos na integração pós-sináptica de sinais (como interação sináptica e geometria celular) até técnicas e abordagens metodológicas (como as eletrofisiológicas e computacionais) que pautam a pesquisa científica do tema. Por fim, discutimos como pesquisas sobre integração sináptica em sistemas e organismos específicos podem ser comparadas e extrapoladas na busca de princípios universais que governam a comunicação celular no sistema nervoso.
