Resumo

A Paralisia Cerebral (PC) se caracteriza por uma lesão não progressiva do cérebro em desenvolvimento acarretando alteração de tônus mus­cular, postura e movimento. Um dos objetivos das terapias é melhorar a postura e o equilíbrio que servem de base para atividades motoras mais elaboradas. A equoterapia utiliza o cavalo como recurso cine­sioterapêutico a fim de promover esses benefícios, e outras melhorias físicas, psicológicas e sociais. Objetivo. Realizar uma revisão sistemá­tica de artigos que investigam os efeitos da equoterapia no controle postural e equilíbrio de crianças com paralisia cerebral. Método. A pesquisa foi realizada em diferentes bases de dados com as seguintes palavras chaves: equoterapia, paralisia cerebral, equilíbrio e contro­le postural. Resultados. Foram selecionados 22 estudos e realizada análise da qualidade de evidência utilizando a escala PEDRo. Os re­sultados foram discutidos seguindo os aspectos: revista publicada e fator de impacto, tipo de investigação metodológica, caracterização dos participantes dos estudos, instrumento de avaliação, descrição das sessões de equoterapia e efeitos da intervenção. Conclusão. Os estu­dos mostraram que a equoterapia tem efeitos positivos no controle postural e equilíbrio no indivíduo com paralisia cerebral. Contudo, a qualidade metodológica dos estudos mostrou-se baixa evidenciando a necessidade de mais pesquisas com maior rigor metodológico.
