Terapia Manual no tratamento da dor: uma revisão integrativa

Introdução. A Terapia Manual é um dos recursos terapêuticos mais antigos utilizados na reabilitação. Podemos descrever está técnica como a utilização de habilidades manuais, incluindo, mas não limitando a mobilização ou manipulação, para avaliar e tratar os tecidos moles e as estruturas articulares. Com o propósito de modular a dor e aumentar a amplitude de movimento. Objetivos. Existe uma vasta literatura sobre terapia manual, sendo a maioria provavelmente desconhecida pelos terapeutas manuais tradicionais e certamente desconhecida por outros profissionais sem interesse em terapia manual. O objetivo do estudo foi realizar uma revisão de literatura, buscando estudos que observaram evidência científica da terapia manual no tratamento da dor. Método. Foi realizada uma revisão bibliográfica integrativa nas seguintes bases de dados: Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, Pedro, Cochrane Library, Jama, Pubmed, Bvs, utilizando as seguintes palavras chaves: “manual therapy and pain”, “manual therapy”, “manual physiotherapy”, “manupulative physiotherapy”. Resultados. Foram selecionadas metanalises, revisões sistemáticas e estudos clínicos, que observaram em seus resultados melhora da dor lombar crônica e aguda, dor cervical crônica, enxaqueca e cefaleia tensional, dor no ombro, escoliose idiopática, impacto femoroacetabular, tontura cervicogenica, osteoartrite de joelho, dor musculoesquelética, disfunção temporomandibular, dor oncológica musculoesqueléticos pós-mastectomia, utilizando a terapia manual associado a outras técnicas e recursos terapêuticos. Conclusão. A Terapia Manual é um recurso terapêutico com evidência cientifica, e pode auxiliar no tratamento da dor. O tratamento deve ser realizado de forma multimodal, incluindo outras técnicas e recursos terapêuticos para uma melhor efetividade.
