Introduction. SARS-CoV 2 has been associated with neurological manifestations and physical rehabilitation in these times, plays an important role in the care of these critically ill patients until hospital discharge, aiming at functional recovery after the acute phase of the disease. Objective: Investigate the neurological aspects resulting from COVID-19 and describe the challenges and perspectives of neurofunctional physical therapy in improving the quality of life of these individuals. Method. A bibliographic review was carried out on reliable databases such as PubMed, SciELO, Science Direct, PMC, and PEDro platform. Results. It was selected 12 clinical trials. The authors report that thromboembolic events are considered the greatest predictor of death, with stroke being the most affected, as well as that neurological manifestations occurred at the beginning of the disease. Physical therapy demonstrates that the length of stay was a significant predictor of improvement in muscle strength and functional status, when compared to the total length of stay. Conclusions. The neurological manifestations associated with COVID-19 had a great impact on public health and that it is up to neurofunctional physiotherapists to promote quality of life, returning functionality to these individuals.
