This article aims to discuss part of the Japanese context in the post-war period, based on historian Reinhart Koselleck's notions of “space of experience” and “horizon of expectation”. Therefore, different existing readings will be taken into account on the reasons that led to the Second World War (1939-1945) and consequently to its outcome for Japan. Investigating the actions taken by countless members of the Japanese governmental machine as aggressions against its former enemies, we will try to demonstrate how these attitudes are the result of historical reviews and denials about the war, and about the imperialist position of Japan as Asia.
