Resumo

The analyzes of the symbolic meaning of food, the culinary habits and the behavior at the table were stimulated by the New Cultural History and favored the studies on the relations between food, culture and social structure. Thus, in this article we intend to discuss the Mesopotamian banquet, its sacred roots, the myths of food creation, the material culture and the rich iconography on the subject.

Biografia do Autor

Kátia Maria Paim Pozzer, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul

Bacharel e licenciada em História pela UFRGS, obteve Diplôme d'Études Approfondies em Histoire et Civilisations de L'Antiquité pela Université Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne) em 1993, concluiu doutorado em História na Université de Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne) em 1996 e Pós-doutorado na Université de Paris X - Nanterre em 2011. Atualmente é Professor Adjunto do Curso de História da Arte, do Instituto de Artes e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em História da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. Coordenou o Laboratório do Mundo Antigo e Medieval (LAMAM) de 2014 a 2016. Atualmente coordena o Laboratório de Estudos da Antiguidade Oriental (LEAO) e é líder de grupo de pesquisa no CNPq. Em 2011 atuou como Pesquisador Visitante no Grupo de Pesquisa Histoire et Archéologie de l'Orient Cunéiforme (HAROC), na Maison René-Ginouvès, Arqueologia e Etnologia - CNRS, Université de Paris I - Panthéon-Sorbonne e Université de Paris Ouest-Nanterre - La Défense, na França. Atua na área de História da Arte Antiga e Medieval, com ênfase em História da Arte Oriental, em História Antiga Oriental e em Teoria e Metodologia da História. Atualmente coordena o projeto de pesquisa Memória Cultural na Gênese e Desenvolvimento da Arte Islâmica, com apoio do CNPq, da FAPERGS e da UFRGS.
