Abstract

The aim of this article is to address the repercussions of miguelism in Brazil, from 1823 to 1828. The highlight is on the political manifestations that happened in Brazilian provinces in which occurred references to the Infant who had been acclaimed as King D. Miguel by the traditional Kingdom Courts in 1828. The main source used was the liberal newspaper Aurora Fluminense, edited by Evaristo da Veiga. In addition to Aurora, Portuguese journals such as A Trombeta Final, Defeza de Portugal and Gazeta de Lisboa were consulted.
